Phenolic resin, also referred to as phenol-formaldehyde (PF) resin or phenoplast, is a type of synthetic polymer that is produced by reacting phenol with formaldehyde.

Phenolic resin is a material that has basic acid and alkali resistance, good mechanical performance, heat resistance, excellent abrasion resistance, flame resistance, solvent resistance, and chemical resistance. Its most significant feature is its ability to resist high temperatures, which means it maintains its structural integrity and dimensional stability even under extreme heat.

Due to this property, phenolic resin is widely used in high-temperature fields such as refractory materials, adhesives, friction materials, and the casting industry. It is also used in various industries, such as corrosion protection engineering, flame-retardant materials, household laminates, paper composite panels, scouring pads, sandpapers, and grinding wheel manufacturing.
